Interpretation

Oil pressure loss is confirmed as a mechanical issue, not a sensor, wiring, or cluster fault. With no gallery pressure, the VVT system cannot advance the intake cam, so the cam remains retarded and the ECM sets P0012. Noise under load is consistent with bearing lubrication loss.

Most probable causes at this stage:

Repair recommendation

  1. Remove oil pan and inspect pickup tube, O-ring, and pickup screen.
  2. Inspect oil pump gears and relief valve for wear, scoring, or sticking.
  3. Check for metallic debris in the oil pan and inspect rod bearings for copper showing.
  4. Verify timing chain tensioner oil feed and general lubrication path condition.
  5. Replace failed components, reassemble, and recheck oil pressure on cold start and at hot idle/load.

Technician note

Zero oil pressure has been verified with a mechanical gauge at the main gallery, and engine noise is present under load. Condemning the pump alone is premature until the pickup system and relief valve are inspected. Teardown is required to confirm the exact failure point before final parts authorization.
